How to ride the bus in Paris?
I am traveling to Paris and staying at the InterContinental hotel. Here is the address.
PARIS-LE GRAND 2 RUE SCRIBE • PARIS, 75009 • FRANCE
The subway Gare du Nord is 2 KM and too far for us to walk. The train station Fare St Lazare is 1.0 KM also too far for us to walk. I’m wondering if a bus is closer, but I do not know how to ride the bus.
I’d appreciate any help. How much does the bus cost? Can I get a daily pass? How do I pay? Can I take the bus to the tourist attractions like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre? Thanks very much for the help.
The subway, called the Metro, has many more stations than the Gare du Nord or the Gare St. Lazare (which are also railway stations).
The closest Metro station to your Hotel is Opera which is a distance of about 600 feet (0.2 km) from the front door.
To go the the Louvre from your hotel take the #27 bus which stops on the rue Auber right around the corner from the front door of your hotel. You need the bus heading in the direction of Porte D’Ivry – Claude Regaud. The trip to the Louvre will take 6 minutes.
To get to the Eiffel Tower take Metro line (Direction : Balard) to the Invalides stop and then transfer to the RER C (Direction : Versailles-Rive Gauche) to the Champ de Mars-Tour Eiffel stop.
The Metro, bus, RER (commuter rail lines) and trams all use the same tickets. They can be purchased individually for 1.60 euro or in carnets of 10 which brings the price down to 1.14 euros each. You can buy a single day pass called a “Mobilis” for 5.80 euros.
